About Cashmir Luke

Various mental health and addiction services are offered at outpatient centers like the one managed by Cashmir Luke. MedicalOne, located near San Francisco, CA, offers individual and group counseling, psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, stress management skills workshops, anxiety and depression analysis, and drug dependence treatment.

Pharmacotherapy, also known as pharmacology, is Cashmir’s area of expertise. Rather than just utilizing talk therapy, patients undergoing pharmacotherapy take prescribed medication in tandem or in place of psychotherapy to aid addiction treatment. Pharmaceuticals have been found to minimize the severity of withdrawal symptoms, diminish drug and alcohol cravings, and lower the chance of use or relapse for certain substances by inhibiting their impact.

Cashmir’s career goals initially took him in a different direction. He worked in the real estate industry while attending Prince George’s Community College and thinking about his future. Cashmir Luke altered his job and educational aspirations after he settled on the route he wanted to take. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. He chose these subjects because pharmacology relies heavily on chemistry. His learned skills taught him how to determine the appropriate humidity, temperature, and illuminance for any drug and establish expiration dates for products based on ingredient half-life. While Cashmir was earning his undergraduate degree, he worked as a respiratory therapy supervisor and rehab coordinator at Tennessee Christian Medical Center. He also worked as a pharmacy manager while studying for his Doctor of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University’s Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy in Winchester, Virginia.

Cashmir has practical expertise in the healthcare industry. He completed clerkships in several areas, including nutritional pharmacy and IV channel infusion. Before taking on the roles of manager and clinical pharmacist at Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore, Cashmir Luke worked as a respiratory therapist at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. Cashmir also worked as a pharmacist intern at the Walmart Pharmacy in Baltimore, Maryland. In this position, Cashmir helped pharmacists receive, fill, and dispense prescriptions; advised patients on the proper use of medications and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals; informed doctors, healthcare workers, and the public about drug-related concerns; processed insurance claims, and set product prices. As a pharmacy intern at Johns Hopkins Hospital Clinical Pharmacy, he collaborated closely with doctors in selecting suitable drugs for patients.

Over the years, Cashmir Luke has delivered educational lectures to various groups, including the Kaiser Permanente pharmacy staff, pharmacists working with Kaiser’s ambulatory care, residents of nursing homes and senior centers, and pharmacists employed at hospitals. Methamphetamines and the use of OTC medications, telepharmacy, diabetes and who is at risk, the use of ketoconazole in the management of methemoglobinemia, and changes in Medicare D payments for retail pharmacies are some of the subjects that have been covered.
