Certain people in this world know how to turn great ideas into successful business ventures. As such, sometimes, these people end up managing multiple businesses simultaneously. Juggling two or more companies can be challenging, but it is far from impossible.
Ask anyone who has managed multiple businesses before, and they’ll likely happily list several pieces of advice. If you’re hoping to follow in their footsteps, you should write their tips down. Here are a few of my own tips I would like to share on managing multiple businesses.
Combine Spaces
One of the best tricks for managing two (or more) businesses is to combine the working space you use. This saves you from having to buy and set up two of everything. It also enables you to be in a situation where you can monitor both businesses. This will let you react more quickly to events at any moment.
Share the Load
Being a business’s sole owner can be rewarding but has drawbacks. For example, there’s nobody to share the responsibilities and concerns with. One way to balance this weight is by having business partners.
When managing multiple businesses, it is always better to share the workload when possible. This means having multiple partners and fellow CEOs when possible. Additionally, don’t be afraid to delegate tasks as needed. There is no need for you to handle every little detail within a company.
Utilize Time Management Tools
Time management tools are a must for any higher-up within a company. They hold us accountable and help establish healthy boundaries. For example, take advantage of time-tracking tools to monitor how much time is spent on one business. This will make it easier to balance the time spent between the two companies.
Get Creative With Business Management
When starting a second (or third) business, it might be wise to run with the idea that practically enables the company to run itself. The less you have to do to keep the new business running, the better.
Create and Live by a Schedule
There’s always been this running joke that entrepreneurs, business owners, and CEOs live and die by their schedules. There’s a reason why this has become such a trope – schedules work!
Running a business isn’t easy. There are a million things to be done, and more people want a piece of your day. Maintaining a schedule is the best way to keep things from getting out of hand. This is especially true when you’re trying to juggle multiple businesses.
